An expert in the field of Career Education and School Improvement, Ms. Thompson uses her 23 years of experience as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, school improvement leader, career education coordinator, and Administrator to lead her school district through building relationships within the school community.  She believes in serving her school community and organization, by developing and fostering relationships that are deeply rooted in honesty, integrity, and loyalty. 

Ms. Thompson’s objective is to grow future leaders in ways that benefit not only the district, but also empowers them to lead in their professional and personal lives. 

Ms. Thompson was born and raised in an education family in Schuyler, Nebraska.  Both of her parents were long time teachers and coaches for the Schuyler Public Schools district, while her grandfather was a Superintendent of schools in Iowa for 20+ years.  Having two brothers, one is an Activities Director and married to a teacher.

In high school, Ms. Thompson was a three sport athlete excelling in volleyball, basketball, and track.  She is a three time state champion and understands what it means to work hard and put in the extra time to excel.  Following high school, Ms. Thompson was a member and 3-time letter winner for the University of Nebraska women’s track and field team, where she served as team captain her junior and senior seasons.  

Ms. Thompson began her career in education with Gretna High School.  While at Gretna, she was a high school girls PE teacher and coached volleyball, girls basketball, and track.  Upon receiving her Masters in Educational Leadership through Doane University, Ms. Thompson moved on to Aurora Public Schools where she took over as the district curriculum coordinator, school improvement lead, and assistant principal at the high school.  

Ms. Thompson then moved to Sutton, Nebraska where she served Sutton Public Schools for 10 years.  While at Sutton, Ms. Thompson built a state known Career and Technical Education program and led the implementation of a new school improvement model to serve as the umbrella to moving the district forward to meet the needs of all students and staff members.  

Ms. Thompson joined the Yutan Public Schools family in 2020.  With her, she brings her two children; Bodhi and Isabel.  Ms. Thompson as completed her Educational Specialist Degree through Doane University and is currently working towards her Doctorate of Education.
