As a Nebraska Native, Ms. Madsen is excited to be joining the Yutan Chieftain Tribe! She was born and raised in Papillion where she graduated from Papillion-LaVista South High School. From there, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. She continued on at NWMSU and completed her Master’s of Science in Education: School and Guidance Counseling. During her graduate program, she did extensive research on childhood grief and loss, mental health of students in public schools, creative implementations in the counseling setting, and the incorporation of nature in therapy.

Ms. Madsen began her career as a High School Counselor in Savannah, MO where she worked closely with the Angel Tree Program and Savannah’s Campus Cupboard, both of which supported students with significant needs. She also served as the scholarship and dual-credit coordinator and served as a mental health liaison between the school and the community. Though she loves her students and her team in Savannah, she decided it was time to be closer to family.

During her free time, Ms. Madsen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her nieces and her dog, Molly.  She is currently hoping to begin work towards her LMHP and is excited to work with the students and families of Yutan, Nebraska!
