Last week we started our immigration unit in Spanish class because so far the majority of immigrants to the United States are Spanish Speakers. We are reading a true story Lupita Manana by Patricia Beatty about 2 Mexican Children who were illegal immigrants in the 1970s. We will also be watching "La Misma Luna" a fictional story about a Mexican boy who sneaks into the USA to find his illegal alien mother who came for work. We will also be watching a documentary "Living on one Dollar" so students can see the perspective of those who live in the countries that have high immigration rates.
