Kathy Lewis  " Lifelong Learner"

Family:  After 31 years and three children ages 15, 21, and 25 my husband and I are still finding new adventures like becoming grandparents thanks to kid #1 or planning a trip to Austria to celebrate finishing TVI training as well as turning 50.

Education and experience: I started my career as a teacher by graduating from Midland Lutheran College (K-8 and middle school math). After teaching 7 years in rural schools  (5-6 and K-2), I was a Montessori director of 9-12 year olds for a couple of years. I learned some interesting "hands-on" methods for teaching in all subject areas during that training. I went back to school at UNO to get a masters degree in special education/learning disabilities starting my time at Yutan. I  added an endorsement in English Second Language  and now an endorsement to be a TVI, teacher of students with vision impairment, which has given me a greater appreciation for those with sensory issues.
