Began teaching at Yutan during 1991-1992 school year - this is my 27th year at YHS. Graduated from Davenport High School in Davenport, Nebraska, and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Previously taught at Victoria Unified School District in Victoria, Kan., from 1984-1986 and was managing editor at the Wahoo Newspaper from 1986-1991. Family: wife Cindy (married in 1984), son Brandon, wife Nikki, and their daughter Chloe and son Henry, daughter Amber, dog Rocky. Hobbies:  golf, sports writing.

Timm becomes
first 3-time
boys state
medalist
Mason Timm places 13th at 2017 state cross country meet to become Yutan's first three-time boys state medalist. Emily Pogue becomes four-time state qualifier and finishes 25th, while freshman Brady Timm also qualified and finished 34th.
Yutan girls qualify for second straight
state tournament

After ending an 18-year drought of qualifying for the girls state basketball tournament in 2015, the girls return to state in 2016 and finish with a  21-6 record.

NHSPA Highest
Award
Yutan's 2016 yearbook, The Chieftain, earned a Cornhusker Award, which is the highest honor given by the Nebraska High School Press Association. The Chieftain Times earned a Superior rating.  Staff members included Maddie Davis, Ashley Stevens, John Grinvalds, Shelby Fenner, Emily Pogue, Julia Kennedy, Haley Herman.

State Journalism

Yutan finishes 2nd in Class B state journalism contest with 17 medal-winning performances. State champions were Haley Herman, Shelby Fenner and In-Depth reporting.
