Mr. Teeter

Hello! My name is Taylor Teeter and I'd like to thank you for visiting my website! Please feel free to look at all the things we will be learning in my room throughout the year.

About Me

I am originally from Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, where my Dad has been a 6th grade teacher since 1998. I met my now wife, Tricia, in Junior High and we welcomed our son Trace into the world this January.  I am an avid golfer and sports fanatic.

My Education

I graduated from Ft Calhoun Jr./Sr. High in 2009, and enrolled in Northwest Missouri State University the following fall. In the Spring of 2014, I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Math Concentration.

I am entering my 5th year of teaching.  I spent my first 2 years teaching 5th Grade in Omaha Public Schools, at Skinner Magnet Center in North Omaha. The was truly thankful for the experience, but jumped at the opportunity to return to a small community. This is my second year teaching 6th Grade at Yutan Elementary, and I am happy everyday to be a part of the Yutan tribe!

Currently I am the head golf coach and assistant varsity wrestling coach. I have been Junior High football and Junior High wrestling coach in Yutan, and have also been a volunteer coach for multiple other programs.

Educational philosophy

I believe that students learn best when they are comfortable, having a little fun, being challenged and knowing that it's okay to F.A.I.L.. In order to achieve this, my classroom appears a bit different from many others, in that there are several lamps illuminating the room, as opposed to the harsh fluorescent overhead lights, and music is constantly playing softly in the background. I use a variety of teaching styles and materials, that enriches the quality of education they receive, while challenging them.

I also believe that it is okay for students to F.A.I.L., as it is often their First Attempt In Learning. Together we then work to understand what went wrong, so we understand it better, which encourages them to be resilient and understand that they aren't always get everything right away. I believe this to be an important part of their growth as an individual.
